Before Archer Logistix, Damian Polak got his start with a bin store, launched in 2020, right as the world shut down. In this earlier interview on ASD Market Week's podcast, he looked back on those first years and the lesson that's stuck with him ever since. Watch the full episode →
THE START
Betting on Discount During a Downturn
Damian and a former business partner opened their first bin store in 2020, betting that an economic downturn would drive people toward discounted goods rather than away from them. The model was simple, returns and overstock priced high at first and marked down daily until the shelves cleared and restocked. Two years in, they shifted from retail into wholesale and supply, working directly with major retailers moving overstock and returns.
THE PHILOSOPHY
"Money Is Made on the Buy"
Damian credits a friend from Florida with the line that's guided him ever since, the money is made on the buy. If the price is right going in, quality and quantity almost don't matter, there's a buyer out there for nearly anything. He's found value in items as unexpected as a full suit of metal armor and loose silver coins turning up in random pallets, proof that the right price makes almost any inventory workable.
THE TAKEAWAY
Content as a Sourcing Tool, Even Back Then
Even in these early days, Damian was already leaning on content and LinkedIn to build relationships and connections in the industry, a habit that's carried straight through to how Archer Logistix operates today. His advice hasn't changed either: start small, post consistently, and treat every connection as worth making.
